A Somerset Chamber of Commerce Workforce Initiative

The “Heavy Metal Tour” is a play on words that references the relationship between Manufacturing and Production companies and “talent” acquisition for the local and regional workforce. In August 2018, during Part I of the HMT, the Somerset Chamber of Commerce took staff and administration, those who influence student career and educational paths, from the School District of Somerset, WI into five local manufacturing companies to tour their facilities and learn more about the jobs we have in our own ‘backyard’. Part II is under development and will consist of taking in the students themselves (grades 6-12) to tour these companies and introduce them to jobs in the manufacturing industry.
